Community Engagement
Cultural Engagement is the backdrop of the Arch Social Community Network to produce, engage, strategize, and perform a plethora of cultural actions, while re-building the narrative of Old West Baltimore. The practice includes national partnership and learning, engaging with artist and leaders, building local and institutional partnerships and working to stabilize value in our community through the framework of culture.
Saturday Community Cleanings
ASCN partners with neighbors as well as state and city officials in an on going effort to keep our community clean and respectable. We have weekly group cleanings every Saturday.
Stockton Street Beautification Project
We bare witness to the decades of financial neglect from past City Official's failure to invest time and resources into Baltimore Black Communities in general but specifically Old West Baltimore. ASCN refuses to stop dreaming and working toward a more productive and useful community.
Stockton Street Vacant Demolition Project
The 2400 Block of Stockton Street was 100% vacant for over a decade. It was an eye sore for the community neighbors and was a harsh reminder of lack of planning and involvement from residents and city officials alike. However, with every problem comes a solution and with a 3 year push ASCN was able to garner support from State and City officials to demolition the whole block with plans to make it more beautiful and usable location.
Help An Elder Day
Elders are the embodiment of history in motion. They represent struggles of the past and contain answers to major life's lessons. We love an honor our Elders. To display our appreciation we set aside time monthly to provide them assistance through helping with gardening, cleaning or any other odd and ins chore.
